Camden Challenge: Designing Kings Cross

Want to try your hand at architecture?

Here is your chance to design a building or space for the King's Cross development, one of the largest and most exciting redevelopments in London. The 67-acre site has a rich history and is adjacent to the best connected transport hub in London. When complete, there will be 50 new and refurbished buildings, new streets, squares, parks and public space. More than 20 historic buildings and structures are being creatively restored and given new uses. By taking part in this exciting Challenge, you will get the chance to develop your design, critical thinking, teamwork and employability skills, learn more about future careers you might be interested in, learn how a real business works, and make new friends along the way. During the three days, you will work in teams and take part in various workshops and trips around the local area to gather your inspiration, before you pitch your idea to a panel Dragons 'Den style' to see which design is the best. This is an intensive course that requires you to be on time and committed. Some places are prioritised for students who (please indicate on your application if you are eligible) had neither parent attend university, have been in local authority care, are young carers themselves, have a disability affecting their studies, or are eligible for free school meals. This class has an Application question: Why would you like to take part in this Challenge? What interests and skills will you contribute to your team? How will you benefit from taking part?
